Alyssa Henderson.
Hi, I’m Alyssa, a birth and postpartum doula and the heart behind A Gentle Space. I believe birth is one of the most transformative experiences a person can go through, and every family deserves to feel informed, supported, and confident as they move through it.
Before becoming a doula, much of my experience was working with children and supporting families. I always felt drawn to nurturing and caregiving roles, but I didn’t know exactly where that passion would lead until my aunt introduced me to the work of doulas through an Instagram reel.
Something immediately clicked. I became fascinated with birth and the profound support doulas can offer during such a life-changing time. From that moment on, I immersed myself in learning. Reading books, listening to podcasts, and studying everything I could about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care.
My approach as a doula centers around three things: education, self-trust, and support. I believe parents deserve to understand their options, feel confident advocating for the care they want, and trust their instincts throughout their experience. Rather than focusing on achieving one specific birth outcome, I help my clients prepare with a mindset that allows them to navigate birth feeling grounded and empowered no matter how their story unfolds.
My goal is to create a gentle, supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and cared for every step of the way. Whether we’re preparing for birth during prenatal visits, navigating labor together, or supporting your transition into postpartum life, my role is to walk alongside you with encouragement, knowledge, and steady support.
I work best with parents who want to feel informed and confident in their choices. Many of my clients value education, want to understand their options, and are looking for support that helps them trust their instincts. If you’re someone who wants to feel prepared, supported, and empowered to advocate for the birth and postpartum experience that feels right for you, we will likely be a wonderful fit.
The Northern Utah Doula Collective

I’m proud to be a part of the Northern Utah Doula Collective, a group of trusted, experienced, and LGBTQ+ affirming doulas who provide support and backup when needed. We come together every second Saturday of the month to connect with parents, answer questions, and create a welcoming space to learn about birth and postpartum support. Whether you want to meet us, ask questions, or just network, we’d love to see you there!
